Wrongful death claims could result after family killed in crash

When one family member suddenly passes away, the surviving loved ones can be immensely devastated. When multiple family members are killed in the same accident, the situation can seem almost unbelievable. The repercussions of this type of event can go far beyond causing substantial grief, and surviving loved ones may find themselves looking for justice through wrongful death claims.

It was recently reported that three people lost their lives in a crash in Ohio. According to reports, a 51-year-old man, a 50-year-old woman and their 10-year-old daughter were in a vehicle heading south on Interstate 75 when a vehicle traveling the wrong direction collided with their car. Though the cause of the incident is still being investigated, authorities did suspect that alcohol played a role in the crash.

Two of the family members were declared deceased at the accident site, and the third was pronounced after arriving at an area hospital. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle also suffered injuries and was in the intensive care unit at the time of the report. Identifying information regarding the wrong-way driver was not provided, and it was not mentioned whether any charges were pending.

Though the wrong-way driver was still hospitalized at the time of the report, it does not mean that the family of the deceased victims have to wait to gain information on their legal options. Utilizing local Ohio legal resources to better understand wrongful death claims may help them determine whether they want to move forward with a claim. A successful suit could result in their obtaining compensation for allowable damages as well as a possible sense of justice for their loved ones.
