Wrongful death: Alcohol suspected in fatal Ohio crash

On Behalf of | Jul 19, 2019 | Wrongful Death

It is not uncommon for people to say that another vehicle came out of nowhere after they have been involved in a car accident. Unfortunately, when drivers fail to abide by the rules of the road, it is easy for a vehicle to end up where it is not supposed to be. As a result, serious crashes can take place that may warrant wrongful death claims.

It was recently reported that a sudden collision in Ohio resulted in the death of one individual. A 20-year-old man was driving a vehicle east when another vehicle collided with the side of his vehicle. It was noted that the incident took place on Interstate 70, but additional information on how the crash occurred was not given in the report. The report did state, however, that alcohol was a factor in the accident.

The driver of the first vehicle was transported to an area hospital by helicopter, but he succumbed to the injuries that he suffered. Two passengers in his vehicle did not suffer serious injuries. It was not mentioned whether the driver of the other vehicle was injured, but it was noted that he was taken into custody on charges of vehicular homicide and tampering with evidence. However, he had not been formally charged at the time of the report.

Alcohol-related crashes take place on roadways far too often. Like with this Ohio car accident, innocent lives are often lost as a result of these incidents. The family of the young man killed in this crash are undoubtedly grief-stricken by their sudden loss, and they may wonder what options they have for addressing the situation. If interested, they may wish to gain information on wrongful death claims and the possibility of filing such a claim against the driver considered at fault.
